Stories of Hope

Every Family Has a Story.

Every milestone tells a story. These are a few of the remarkable children and families who have trusted us to walk alongside them. We hope their journeys encourage you, offer hope, and remind you how much can be possible when a child is given the opportunity to grow.

Luke's Story

Learning to Believe “I Am Safe. I Am Brave.”

Hope began before Luke was even born.

When Luke was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis during pregnancy, his family reached out before he was even born. Together, we created a plan so therapy could begin as soon as he arrived.

At just two weeks old, Luke became part of the Let's Grow Pediatrics family.

Over the years, therapy became about much more than weekly sessions. Together, we celebrated milestones, navigated orthotics and equipment, prepared for surgeries, and found creative ways to help Luke explore his world.

Every milestone was built on trust—not only with Luke, but with his entire family.

One of our favorite memories came as Luke was learning to take his first independent steps. Like many children learning a new skill, he was scared. Before every attempt, we'd pause together and repeat a simple mantra:

“I am safe. I am brave.”

Those words became part of his journey. With every step, Luke grew not only in strength and balance, but in confidence. Watching him believe in himself was every bit as meaningful as watching him walk.

As Luke grew, the challenges changed, and so did our goals. When he started school, one of the biggest obstacles was getting up from the classroom floor independently. During an intensive, we spent days problem-solving and trying different strategies. Eventually, Luke mastered scooting onto a wedge before transitioning into standing. It was a solution that gave him greater independence throughout his school day.

Progress isn't defined by a timeline—it's built through courage, perseverance, and countless small victories.

Watching Luke grow has been one of the greatest privileges of our clinic. Today, we're helping him continue building the strength, confidence, and independence he needs to thrive at school, on the playground, and throughout his community. We're honored to be part of his story, and we can't wait to see where his journey leads next.

Luke Today

Luke's story is still being written. Every season brings new goals, new challenges, and new reasons to celebrate.

Elton's Story

Building a Foundation That Changed Everything.

When Elton first came to Let's Grow Pediatrics, she struggled with tummy time and had very limited head and trunk control. Together with her family, we focused on building a strong foundation for movement, independence, and exploration.

Building a foundation that changed everything.

As Elton became stronger physically, something else began to change.

The world no longer felt so overwhelming. Lights, sounds, and busy environments that once caused tears became easier to tolerate as her confidence and regulation grew alongside her motor skills.

Today, Elton smiles, laughs, and eagerly participates in therapy—even in a busy gym surrounded by other children. She embraces challenges that once felt impossible and enjoys coming to therapy instead of fearing it.

Elton's First Year of Therapy

Month by month, Elton built more than strength. She developed confidence, resilience, and a foundation that would continue changing her life long after her first milestones were achieved.

Where She Is Today.

The first year was only the beginning. Today, after years of continued therapy, Elton continues to surprise us with what she's capable of.

Perhaps one of her greatest milestones isn't one you'll find on a standardized test. It's seeing how the confidence she gained in therapy has carried into everyday life.

This year, Elton started school for the first time. What was once an overwhelming environment filled with bright lights, busy classrooms, and constant activity is now a place where she can participate, learn, and thrive.

Her story reminds us that therapy isn't just about reaching milestones. Sometimes it's about helping a child feel safe enough to fully experience the world around them.

In Her Mom's Words

"When we first started at Let's Grow, doing an intensive sounded scary and hard to put Elton through. Looking back, it was the beginning of Elton getting to live a physical life.

Abby pushes us outside our comfort zones, which leads us to success, but she does it in a way that Elton still trusts her and feels safe. Katherine is the epitome of optimism and positivity—cheerful, welcoming, knowledgeable, and truly invested in Elton.

Let's Grow has become so much more than therapy for our family—a sounding board, a resource, a network for families with kids who have extra needs, and a safe and fun place where real progress happens.

Going to Let's Grow has been the highlight of Elton's week for 3+ years. She loves her therapists like family, and they will always be family to us."

River's Story

Learning Just How Much Is Possible.

From the beginning, River's future came with a lot of unknowns.

Before River arrived, prenatal imaging revealed agenesis of the corpus callosum and hydrocephalus. Her parents knew River would face significant developmental challenges, but they didn't want to wait to begin supporting her development. They wanted to give her every opportunity possible from the start. Her mom met with us during pregnancy, and within weeks of River's arrival, therapy began.

In those first sessions, we focused on the foundations of movement—head and trunk control, rolling, and building stability.

Where it began

The beginning of a journey that would take River further than anyone could have known.

River's journey has included multiple brain surgeries and severe spasms that can interrupt therapy without warning. On those days, the exercises stop. We give her body the time it needs, love on her, and wait until River is ready.

And then we keep going.

With consistent therapy and 3–4 intensive programs each year, River has continued to show us just how much her body is capable of learning.

Where she is today

The little girl who once worked to control her head and trunk is now working on standing, walking, and greater independence.

Today, River sits independently, walks in her gait trainer, and is beginning to stand on her own for brief moments. She also has a wheelchair and is learning to propel it herself.

Her progress has gone beyond what her family was initially told to expect. But River's story isn't simply about proving a prognosis wrong. It's about what can happen when a child is given opportunities, challenged appropriately, and surrounded by people who continue to believe there is more to discover.

River reminds us not to decide too early what a child will or won't be able to do. Sometimes our job is simply to keep creating opportunities, keep believing, and see where a child takes us.

And through it all, River's family has been right there with her. Her big sister has practically grown up at Let's Grow—playing in the waiting room, entertaining the other siblings, and becoming a familiar part of our clinic along the way.

In her mom's words

"When River was first diagnosed, we were given a pretty grim prognosis, and as her mom, all I wanted was to give her every possible chance to have the best life she could. DMI and Let's Grow have given River that chance in ways I don't think I could ever fully explain. We've watched her get stronger, more confident, and do things we once weren't sure she would ever be able to do. They have never looked at River and seen her limitations—they see her potential, and they push her to reach it. Let's Grow believed in our girl right alongside us, and I will forever be grateful for the part they have played in giving us hope for a future that once felt so scary."
